Fri May 02 03:41:31 UTC 2025: ## Tight Security in Thiruvananthapuram as PM Modi Arrives for Vizhinjam Port Inauguration
**THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, May 2, 2025** – Thiruvananthapuram is under a heavy security blanket as Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived Thursday evening for a two-day visit to inaugurate the Vizhinjam International Seaport. His arrival has prompted stringent security measures across the city, including heightened surveillance at hotels, homestays, and along the coastal belt.
The city has been on edge following a series of recent bomb threats, five of which targeted various institutions on Thursday alone. While all threats proved to be hoaxes, police have implemented robust anti-sabotage measures, working alongside Central Intelligence units. A previous bomb threat at the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport also triggered a joint security operation.
The security operation for the Prime Minister’s visit involves the District Police Chief and 13 Superintendents of Police. Attendees at Friday’s inauguration are prohibited from bringing bottles, sticks, or flags into the venue. Strict traffic restrictions are also in place, with vehicles parked illegally to be towed, and motorists facing legal action. Several key roads are closed from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday.
PM Modi is scheduled to travel to Vizhinjam by helicopter around 9:45 a.m. on Friday to officially commission the seaport. He was received by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan upon his arrival.
