CHENNAI, INDIA – May 2, 2025 – Celebrated actor Kamal Haasan launched a 25-book collection showcasing the complete works of the renowned actor and playwright, “Crazy” Mohan, at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in Mylapore on Thursday. The collection, published by The Alliance Publishers to mark their 125th anniversary, includes Mohan’s plays, short stories, and responses to reader questions from the Tamil magazine *Kalki*.
The event saw the participation of several dignitaries, including actors Maadhu Balaji and Jayaram, and director K.S. Ravikumar. Haasan described his relationship with Mohan as that of “two brothers born in each other’s homes,” highlighting their close friendship and mutual respect. Ravikumar praised Mohan’s talent for quickly creating compelling dialogue, while Jayaram noted the enduring popularity of films like *Thenali* and *Panchathantiram*, which featured Mohan’s scripts.
The published works encompass popular plays such as *Return of Crazy Thieves*, *Allaudin*, *100 Watts Bulb*, *Madhil Mel Maadhu*, and *Chocolate Krishna*, along with two plays written for theatre personality Kathadi Ramamurthi. The books also include 25 sketches by artist Keshav. Publisher Alliance Srinivasan attributed the long-lasting success of the Crazy Troupe to their “clean comedy.” Actor Maadhu Balaji announced plans to distribute the books to schools, colleges, senior citizen homes, and padasalas, with *Chocolate Krishna* also being adapted into a graphic novel.
