Fri May 02 00:14:00 UTC 2025: ## Madhya Pradesh High Court Condemns Police Inaction Following Ambedkar Statue Vandalism
**Bhopal, May 2, 2025** – The Madhya Pradesh High Court has sharply criticized the state police for their failure to apprehend those responsible for the vandalism of a B.R. Ambedkar statue in Seoni district two months ago. A division bench issued notices to the police and state government, demanding a response by May 7th.
The court’s action follows a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by Seoni resident Jitendra Ahirwar, who highlighted the lack of progress in the investigation despite an FIR being filed in February. The bench demanded an affidavit from the Seoni Superintendent of Police and the Dhuma Police Station Officer explaining the inaction.
This incident is not isolated. Multiple acts of vandalism targeting Ambedkar statues have been reported across Madhya Pradesh in recent months. Another incident occurred in Ashok Nagar on Wednesday, prompting protests and the filing of a fresh FIR.
The Madhya Pradesh Congress President criticized the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its alleged inaction, stating that Ambedkar is being constantly humiliated and the government remains silent. The Congress leader called for strict action against those responsible.
