CHENNAI, INDIA (May 2, 2025) – The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has awarded a contract to the Tamil Nadu Ex-Servicemen Corporation (TEXCO) to manage parking fees at ten locations across the city. This follows the expiration of a previous private contract.

TEXCO staff began collecting fees on July 22, 2024, at locations including Marina Beach, Anna Nagar, and Mylapore. Fees are set at ₹5 for two-wheelers, ₹20 for four-wheelers, and ₹60 for buses and vans per hour. Collectors are required to wear identification cards and overcoats bearing both GCC and TEXCO logos.

Initially, payments were processed via digital methods; however, the GCC is implementing software upgrades to include mandatory vehicle registration number recording on receipts and QR code verification for authenticity. Cash payments have been disabled on handheld devices.

The GCC has also initiated an inquiry into complaints received against TEXCO personnel and is awaiting a report on the matter. Citizens can report complaints through the GCC’s toll-free number 1913.
