Fri May 02 09:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Flash Flood Warning Issued for Santa Barbara County Mountains

**SANTA BARBARA, CA** – The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a flash flood warning for the Santa Barbara County interior mountains Thursday afternoon, remaining in effect until 4:15 p.m. Heavy thunderstorms brought significant rainfall to areas near Highway 33 west of Ojai, including Rose Valley, Lockwood Valley, Reyes Peak, and Old Man Mountain.

The NWS reported rainfall totals between 0.5 and 1 inch as of 1:11 p.m., with rates potentially reaching 1 inch per hour. This intense rainfall poses a risk of flash flooding near creeks, streams, urban areas, highways, streets, underpasses, and other low-lying locations.

Residents are urged to exercise caution and move to higher ground if necessary. Driving or walking through floodwaters is strongly discouraged. Hikers and campers are advised to avoid creeks and streams.

While there’s a 20% chance of thunderstorms in Santa Barbara Thursday and Thursday night, the NWS forecasts a slight chance of showers countywide on Saturday.
