**Bhubaneswar, Odisha, May 2, 2025** – The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of an 18-year-old Nepalese B. Tech student at the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) University in Bhubaneswar. The student’s body was found in her hostel room on Thursday evening.
The MEA stated that it has been in close contact with the Odisha state government since learning of the incident. The Odisha police are conducting a thorough investigation, and the state government is providing full support to the deceased student’s family.
This is the second death of a Nepalese student at KIIT University this year. Another Nepalese student, Prakriti Lamsal, died by suicide in February. The MEA offered its heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased student.
