Fri May 02 13:22:23 UTC 2025: ## Kerala Launches Free Foot-and-Mouth Disease Vaccination Campaign for Cattle
**KOCHI, Kerala – May 2, 2025** – A free vaccination campaign against foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) for cattle began today in Kochi, Kerala, as part of the National Animal Disease Control Programme. The initiative, launched by District Panchayat President Manoj Moothedan, aims to vaccinate an estimated 118,090 cattle in Ernakulam district over the next 18 days. This is the sixth phase of a statewide campaign running from May 2nd to 23rd.
Project coordinator Biju J. Chembarathi urged cattle farmers to ensure their animals receive the vaccination during this period. Ernakulam district animal husbandry officer G. Sajikumar noted that the campaign aims to cover the district’s 13.42 lakh cows and 1.01 lakh buffaloes.
