Fri May 02 09:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Weekend Weather in Boston Area a Mixed Bag: Sunshine and Storms Possible
**BOSTON, MA (May 1, 2025)** – After a string of soggy April weekends, Bostonians face a complicated weather forecast for the May long weekend, with sunshine, thunderstorms, and potential flooding all on the table.
Friday will see a transition from dry, comfortable air to a warmer, more humid atmosphere. While showers and thunderstorms are expected before dawn, most areas will see sunny skies and temperatures reaching 80 degrees by midday, particularly in MetroWest and southern New Hampshire. Southeastern Massachusetts, however, may experience fog and cooler temperatures. A slight risk of isolated late-day storms exists northwest of Boston.
Saturday is designated a NEXT Weather Alert Day due to the potential for widespread showers and thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon and evening. These storms could lead to localized flooding in areas northwest of Boston, including the Berkshires, northern Worcester County, and parts of northern Middlesex and Essex counties, as well as southern Vermont and New Hampshire. Southeastern Massachusetts may experience persistent fog.
Sunday’s forecast remains uncertain. A frontal boundary’s position will determine whether the day brings warm, humid weather and sunshine, or a cooler, cloudier day with scattered showers and temperatures in the 60s. Residents are urged to monitor updated forecasts for outdoor plans.
Looking ahead, a large upper-level low-pressure system may bring several days of rain to the Northeast next week, potentially ushering in a longer-term pattern change. The WBZ Weather Team advises residents to stay informed as the forecast evolves.
