Fri May 02 04:50:00 UTC 2025: **AAP Blames BJP for Delhi Waterlogging After First Rains**
NEW DELHI: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has severely criticized the BJP government in Delhi for the widespread waterlogging across the city following the first rains of the season. AAP leaders alleged that the BJP’s “four-engine” government failed to manage even the initial downpour, resulting in submerged roads and streets in several areas including Minto Road, ITO, Dhaula Kuan, Delhi Airport, and Old Rajendra Nagar.
Party leaders, including Sanjay Singh, Atishi, Saurabh Bharadwaj, and Manish Sisodia, shared videos and photos on X (formerly Twitter) showcasing the waterlogged areas. They claimed that the heavy rainfall Thursday night led to the deaths of four people, including a mother and her three children, and highlighted the inefficiency of the BJP government in managing the city’s infrastructure.
Sanjay Singh stated that the BJP government had set a record for ruining Delhi in a short period. Atishi questioned whether Delhi residents expected this level of mismanagement from a government boasting four engines of governance. Manish Sisodia blamed the BJP’s focus on criticizing Arvind Kejriwal for the city’s poor condition. Saurabh Bharadwaj directly linked the four deaths to the government’s failure.
The AAP’s criticism centers on the alleged unpreparedness of the BJP-led government for the monsoon season, resulting in significant public inconvenience and tragic loss of life. The party is using the waterlogging incident as a major point of attack against the BJP’s governance in the national capital.
