**Hyderabad, May 1, 2025** – Telangana Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy has announced that the long-delayed Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Project will be completed by December 2027. The project, plagued by delays under previous administrations, is set to bring much-needed irrigation to farmers in the region.
Minister Reddy, along with other officials, conducted an extensive inspection of the project sites across Nagarkurnool and Wanaparthy districts. The inspection included aerial and ground surveys of key components, such as the Narlapur reservoir (6.4 tmcft capacity), the Yedula reservoir, and the impressive Stage-II pumping station at Teegalapally, featuring India’s largest underground cavern.
A six-month deadline has been set for the completion of Package-3 of the project. The Minister also set deadlines for the completion of other related projects, including the filling of four reservoirs (Narlapur, Yedula, Vattem, and Karivena) with 50 tmcft of water by a specified date, and the completion of the Kalwakurthy, Nettempadu, Bheema, and Koilsagar projects by March 2026. Repairs to non-functional motors at the Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation Scheme are also slated for completion within the next two to three months.
The ambitious project aims to significantly improve irrigation infrastructure in the region, benefiting local farmers and addressing years of water scarcity.
