FRISCO, TX – Karmelo Anthony, the 17-year-old charged with the first-degree murder of Austin Metcalf, has been relocated to an undisclosed location for his safety, according to the Next Generation Action Network (NGAN), a group representing his family. Anthony allegedly stabbed Metcalf, a fellow high school student, during a track meet on April 2nd following a seating dispute.

Since his release on bond last Monday, Anthony and his family have reportedly faced a barrage of threats, including death threats, harassment, and physical intimidation. NGAN cites instances such as unwanted food deliveries, someone loitering near their home and taking pictures, and the mailing of Metcalf’s obituary to their residence. While Frisco Police have not reported any cases involving threats against the Anthony family, NGAN claims these actions constitute a dangerous atmosphere fueled by hate and misinformation.

NGAN President Dominique Alexander criticized the situation, arguing that Anthony’s family should not be subjected to such treatment and compared the situation to other high-profile cases. Alexander also drew attention to the racial element, suggesting bias in the public response to the case compared to others.

Meanwhile, Austin Metcalf’s father, Jeff Metcalf, has appealed for de-escalation, stating that the incident should not be politicized. He previously clashed with Jake Lang, a Florida man organizing a “Protect White Americans” rally in Frisco, during which Lang was reportedly admonished by phone. Metcalf’s home was also reportedly “swatted” following a press conference where Alexander criticized Metcalf’s presence.

The case continues to spark intense debate and has raised concerns about the safety of those involved and the role of social and political pressures. The Frisco Police Department is continuing its investigation.
