**Seoul, South Korea –** South Korea’s acting President, Han Duck-soo, announced his resignation on Thursday, May 1st, 2025, to pursue a presidential bid in next month’s election. In a televised address, Mr. Han stated his intention to assume a “bigger responsibility” for the country. His presidential campaign is expected to officially launch on Friday.

Mr. Han, who served as Prime Minister under the ousted President Yoon Suk Yeol, is seen as a potential conservative candidate.
