Thu May 01 14:48:34 UTC 2025: ## Shivamogga Kannada Sahitya Parishat Members Oppose Proposed By-Law Amendments

**SHIVAMOGGA, INDIA (May 1, 2025)** – Lifetime members of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat in Shivamogga are vehemently opposing proposed amendments to the organization’s by-laws, claiming the changes would centralize power in the hands of the president and undermine democratic principles.

At a press conference Thursday, members including Honnali Chandrashekhar, K.P. Sripal, B. Chandre Gowda, and Puttaiah, expressed their concerns over amendments drafted by Parishat president Mahesh Joshi. They allege the amendments significantly increase the president’s authority at the expense of the executive committee and the general membership.

The members stated that a general body meeting scheduled for April 27th was postponed due to their opposition and has been rescheduled for June 22nd. They vowed to continue their opposition to the proposed changes. Mr. Chandrashekhar further accused Mr. Joshi of attempting to sideline the executive committee and consolidate all administrative power within his own office.

The group urged all lifetime members to reject the amendments and announced their support for a meeting in Mandya on May 17th to discuss the issue further. They also called on the State government to investigate alleged financial irregularities within the Parishat, specifically citing concerns over the handling of funds during a recent literary conference in Mandya.
