Wed Apr 30 23:20:00 UTC 2025: **Royals Recall Top Prospect Noah Cameron for Major League Debut**

KANSAS CITY, MO (May 1, 2025) – The Kansas City Royals announced today that highly touted pitching prospect Noah Cameron will make his major league debut on Wednesday against the Tampa Bay Rays. Cameron, a left-hander, will be recalled from Triple-A Omaha to fill the rotation spot vacated by Cole Ragans, who is dealing with left groin tightness. The Royals are optimistic Ragans will avoid an injured list stint, but he’s currently not ready to start.

Cameron, a seventh-round pick in 2021, has impressed in the minors with a solid four-pitch arsenal, highlighted by a plus changeup. He posted a 3.08 ERA and a near-28% strikeout rate last season, and this year boasts a 3.22 ERA and a 30.3% strikeout rate in Triple-A. Baseball America ranked him eighth among Royals prospects this offseason.

In corresponding roster moves, the Royals optioned right-handed pitcher Jonathan Bowlan and infielder Nick Loftin to Triple-A Omaha. Infielder Tyler Tolbert was reinstated from the bereavement list.

While Cameron’s call-up is primarily due to Ragans’ injury, it also presents an opportunity for the Royals to showcase a top prospect, potentially increasing his trade value ahead of the deadline. Should Ragans recover quickly, Cameron’s major league stint may be short-lived, but for now, all eyes are on his debut Wednesday. The Royals rotation remains without Alec Marsh and Kyle Wright, both injured, though Wright is expected to begin a minor league rehab assignment this week.
