**COIMBATORE, INDIA (May 1, 2025)** – Commuters in Coimbatore and Tiruppur districts can expect improved public transportation starting June 15th. The Tamil Nadu government has sanctioned 67 new minibus routes in Coimbatore and 88 in Tiruppur, extending the maximum route length to 25 kilometers.

This expansion, detailed in a newly issued government order, increases the previously permitted distance by five kilometers. The new routes will prioritize underserved areas, with unserved routes comprising at least 65% of the total distance. Key starting points in Coimbatore include Gandhipuram, K.G. Hospital, and Nava India.

A revised fare structure, effective since the beginning of the year, will apply. Fares range from ₹4 for the first four kilometers to ₹11 for distances up to 26 kilometers. An additional kilometer may be added for routes servicing government hospitals, schools, colleges, or railway stations.
