**Ridgefield, CT –** Priscilla Pointer, a celebrated actress known for her memorable portrayals of strong maternal figures in films like “Carrie” and the television series “Dallas,” passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 100, her daughter, Amy Irving, announced Tuesday on Instagram.

Pointer’s career spanned six decades, encompassing a wide range of roles in both film and television. She is perhaps best remembered for her role as Rebecca Barnes Wentworth in “Dallas,” a character whose dramatic demise in a plane crash remains a memorable moment in the show’s history. Her film credits include appearances in “Looking for Mr. Goodbar,” “Blue Velvet,” and the 1976 horror classic “Carrie,” where she notably played the mother of Sue Snell, a role portrayed by her real-life daughter, Amy Irving, in her film debut. This marked the beginning of a series of collaborations between mother and daughter, who appeared together in several other projects.

Beyond her screen work, Pointer was a respected figure in the theater, training extensively and performing in numerous Broadway and touring productions. She co-founded the San Francisco Actor’s Workshop with her late husband, Jules Irving.

Pointer’s legacy extends beyond her professional achievements. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, including actor Gabriel Barreto, who shared a moving tribute on X, describing her as “a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a true gift to the craft of acting.” The centenarian actress’s final role was a voice performance in the 2008 television movie “Sweet Nothing in My Ear.” She celebrated her 100th birthday last May.
