**Puducherry, May 1, 2025** – A new emergency helpline, 9944475000, has been launched in Puducherry to provide immediate medical assistance to accident victims. The initiative, spearheaded by the non-governmental organization ALERT, will connect callers with trained volunteers who will administer first aid and coordinate transportation to hospitals with the help of local health and police departments. The helpline was officially launched by V. Ravichandran, Director of the Department of Health and Family Welfare Services, and Senior Superintendent of Police, Traffic, Praveen Kumar Tripathi.
