**Chennai, India (May 1, 2025)** – The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has officially designated vending and non-vending zones across the city as part of a new street vending policy. A total of 338 zones have been identified, with 150 designated for vending and 188 as non-vending areas.

The Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar Zone has the most designated vending spots (26), while Sholinganallur Zone has the fewest (2). The policy prohibits vending within 100 meters of sensitive locations like schools, hospitals, and government offices, and within 150 meters of heritage structures. Roads narrower than three meters are also excluded. Vending stalls must adhere to specified dimensions (6ftx4ft or 8ftx6ft) and maintain a two-foot spacing.
