Thu May 01 01:20:00 UTC 2025: **Supreme Court Orders Mohan Babu to Appear in Tirupati Court**

TIRUPATI, Andhra Pradesh – Actor Mohan Babu has been ordered by the Supreme Court to appear in a Tirupati court hearing on the day after tomorrow, May 2nd, 2025. The order comes in response to a case filed against him in 2019 for participating in a protest that violated election code of conduct.

Mohan Babu, founder of Sri Vidyanikethan educational institutions, staged a sit-in protest in Tirupati in March 2019 demanding fee reimbursement for students. The protest took place while the model code of conduct for general elections was in effect. Police subsequently filed a chargesheet against him for violating the code.

Mohan Babu challenged the chargesheet in the Supreme Court, seeking to have it dismissed. However, the court rejected his petition and directed him to appear before the Tirupati magistrate court for the hearing scheduled for May 2nd. A request for an exemption from attending the hearing was also denied.

The original case stems from a protest where Mohan Babu and his sons, Manchu Vishnu and Manchu Manoj, joined students in a sit-in on a national highway, causing significant traffic disruption. Police charged them with obstructing traffic and violating election rules by not obtaining prior permission for the protest.
