Thu May 01 14:30:00 UTC 2025: **Indy Juneteenth Parade Cancelled for 2024, Festival and Other Events to Continue**
INDIANAPOLIS — The annual Indy Juneteenth parade has been canceled for 2024, organizers announced Friday. Citing unforeseen circumstances, Indy Juneteenth will instead focus on reimagining the parade’s logistics and community engagement for a relaunch in 2026.
While the parade is on hiatus, all other Juneteenth events will proceed as planned, including the festival at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, the Miss Indy Juneteenth Pageant, the Punches For Purpose Boxing Showcase, and a collaboration with the Indiana Fever. A fireworks display will cap off the celebrations.
Organizers expressed their commitment to returning with a “stronger than ever” lineup in 2025 and emphasized their dedication to expanding partnerships and participation for the 2026 parade. They assured the community that the wait will be worthwhile, promising a revitalized event with improved community engagement. Juneteenth, commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in Texas, continues to be celebrated in Indianapolis with a range of cultural performances, vendor booths, and educational activities.
