**Kanniyakumari & Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu – May 1, 2025** – Gram sabha meetings, held across Kanniyakumari and Thoothukudi districts on May Day, focused on reviewing community development projects and addressing local needs. In Kanniyakumari, Collector R. Alagumeena participated in a meeting at Thatchamalai, a tribal hamlet, highlighting the improvements in access to amenities like drinking water, new buildings, and bus services achieved through these meetings. She emphasized the importance of regular health check-ups, particularly for pregnant women and those in tribal areas, and encouraged school attendance. Seven students from Pechiparai Government Higher Secondary School are slated to take the NEET exam this year.
In Thoothukudi, Collector K. Elambahavath attended a gram sabha in Vazhavallan village. The meeting reviewed projects’ impact on the village’s 3,782 residents, focusing on school attendance and the functionality of the anganwadi center. The Collector stressed the link between nutritious food and children’s development and urged timely completion of ongoing development projects.
