Wed Apr 30 16:02:06 UTC 2025: ## CPI(M) and IUML Protest BJP’s Decision to Name Skill Centre After RSS Founder in Palakkad
**PALAKKAD, KERALA –** A protest erupted in Palakkad, Kerala on Wednesday after the BJP allegedly allowed the naming of a skill development centre after RSS founder K.B. Hedgewar. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] led a march to the municipal office, which was blocked by police. The protest followed an alleged assault on CPI(M) councillor Saleena Beevi by BJP councillors during a heated council meeting on Tuesday.
CPI(M) leaders condemned the BJP’s decision, vowing to resist the move. The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) also staged a separate protest, criticizing the BJP’s actions and what they termed the “politics of hatred” being promoted by the BJP and RSS. IUML national vice-president P.P. Anvar Sadath highlighted the RSS’s alleged anti-national activities during India’s struggle for independence. Both parties pledged to continue opposing any attempt to “whitewash” the history of figures they see as having worked against the nation.
