**New Delhi** – Union Home Minister Amit Shah issued a stark warning to terrorists responsible for the recent attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians. Speaking at an event in Delhi today, Shah vowed that India would relentlessly pursue and punish every individual involved.
“Whoever carried out this dastardly act will not be spared,” Shah declared. He emphasized that the government’s resolve to eradicate terrorism is unwavering, stating, “Every single perpetrator will be held accountable.” Shah’s comments mark his first public response to the April 22nd attack.
The Home Minister, along with Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor and Chief Minister, observed a moment of silence to commemorate the victims. The event also included the unveiling of a statue and road naming ceremony honoring Upendra Nath Brahma, a leader of Assam’s Bodo community. Several other officials, including Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, were in attendance.
The Pahalgam attack has significantly heightened tensions between India and Pakistan. The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) has been briefed on the cross-border links suspected to be involved in the incident. This latest escalation follows a pattern of heightened tensions between the two nations, with the last major military response occurring in February 2019, when India conducted airstrikes in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir following the Pulwama terror attack. Shah’s strong statement suggests a firm commitment from the Indian government to retaliate decisively against those responsible for the Pahalgam tragedy.
