**Bengaluru, May 1, 2025** – A 58-year-old businessman, M.N. Kumar Babu, was killed and his wife injured in a hit-and-run accident in Bengaluru on Wednesday morning. The accident occurred near the Sadarahalli signal when a speeding canter crashed into the car Babu was traveling in with his family.
Babu, a resident of Jakkur, was on his way to Devanahalli for a religious ceremony at a newly purchased property. His wife, Varalakshmi, was in the backseat with him, while their son sat in the front. The family car was stopped at a traffic signal when the canter, losing control, slammed into it. The impact caused the canter to subsequently collide with six other vehicles.
While other drivers sustained minor injuries, Babu suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Varalakshmi is currently hospitalized but is reported to be out of danger. The canter driver fled the scene, abandoning his vehicle. Chikkajala traffic police arrived to clear the resulting traffic congestion and have seized the canter. A hit-and-run case has been registered, and investigations are underway to apprehend the driver.
