Thu May 01 03:30:00 UTC 2025: ## IKEA Opens First “Plan and Order Point” in Bengaluru’s Whitefield

**Bengaluru, India (May 1, 2025)** – Swedish furniture giant IKEA opened its first “Plan and Order Point” (PaOP) in India on April 30th, located in Whitefield, East Bengaluru. This smaller-format store, spanning 740 square meters, complements IKEA’s larger flagship store in Nagasandra and marks a strategic expansion into a key growth market.

The PaOP offers a personalized home planning experience, featuring consultations with design experts and seamless ordering and delivery services. Customers can choose to plan their furniture themselves or utilize IKEA’s design consultants. While the selection is curated compared to the flagship store, the full range is accessible digitally. This omni-channel approach reflects IKEA’s broader strategy to enhance accessibility and convenience.

Pooja Grover, Country Expansion Manager, IKEA India, highlighted Bengaluru’s significance as a burgeoning market, particularly its concentration of young, well-travelled professionals. The choice of Whitefield, she explained, is due to its rapid residential growth and high concentration of young professionals.

IKEA plans to open more smaller stores across its six key Indian cities (Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi, Pune, and Chennai). The company tailors its offerings to each city’s specific needs, considering factors such as home sizes, lifestyles, and customer preferences based on extensive market research. Future store formats will vary, adapting to local characteristics and real estate availability. IKEA also plans to significantly increase its local sourcing in the coming years.

This new initiative demonstrates IKEA’s commitment to expanding its reach and better catering to the diverse needs of the Indian market, adapting its strategies to better serve the first-generation Indian consumers, and understanding the unique requirements of Indian homes.
