Wed Apr 30 18:01:53 UTC 2025: ## 145 Children with Special Needs Graduate from Mysuru’s AIISH Pre-School Program
**Mysuru, Karnataka, April 30, 2025** – A significant milestone was reached at the All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH) in Mysuru today as 145 children with special needs successfully completed their pre-school training program. The graduating class, comprised of children with various communication disorders including hearing impairments, autism, cerebral palsy, and intellectual disabilities, celebrated their achievement at a ceremony held on the AIISH campus.
The program, part of the Department of Special Education, emphasizes early intervention through structured activities focusing on self-help, cognitive, motor, and social skills. A tailored curriculum addresses each child’s unique needs. Importantly, parents and caregivers also received training to support their children’s transition into mainstream education. AIISH highlighted the crucial role of family support in the children’s success.
The results are encouraging: 84% of the children will integrate into regular schools, 15% will participate in partial integration programs, and 1% will attend specialized schools.
Professor H. Sundararaju, Professor of ENT at AIISH, served as chief guest at the graduation ceremony, presided over by AIISH Director Pushpavathi. AIISH continues its commitment to early identification and intervention, conducting regular screenings in hospitals and launching awareness campaigns to reach parents of at-risk infants.
