NEW DELHI, INDIA – Actor Mohan Babu’s request for a stay on proceedings in an election code violation case has been denied by the Supreme Court. The court refused to grant him an exemption from the investigation and rejected his plea for a stay on the notice requiring his appearance before the investigating officer on May 2nd.

The case stems from a 2019 incident where Babu and others held a protest without permission on the Tirupati-Madanapalle national highway. This protest, which occurred while the election code of conduct was in effect, led to charges being filed against Babu, his sons, and others.

The Supreme Court, while refusing the stay, adjourned further hearing for four weeks. Babu will be required to appear before the investigating officer on May 2nd. The case continues.
