Wed Apr 30 15:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Brief Warm Spell in Billings Area to Give Way to Rain and Mountain Snow

**BILLINGS, MT** – Billings residents can expect a brief respite from the recent precipitation on Tuesday, with dry and warmer conditions forecast. However, this reprieve will be short-lived. A shortwave trough and cold front arriving Tuesday evening will bring a return of rain to lower elevations and significant snowfall to the mountains above 6,000 feet.

The National Weather Service predicts that area mountains could accumulate 6 inches or more of snow by Thursday morning. Lower elevations, particularly along and south of a line from Livingston to Billings to Broadus, can expect between 0.10 and 0.25 inches of rain, with Red Lodge potentially receiving closer to 0.50 inches. This increased rainfall raises concerns about localized flooding, rising creeks and streams, and debris flows in burn scar areas.

Dry and warmer conditions are predicted to return Thursday through Saturday, with highs in the 60s and 70s. However, another potential storm system is expected to bring a chance of precipitation Sunday into early next week. The intensity and exact location of this system remain uncertain.

Temperatures will fluctuate, with highs reaching the 70s and 80s over the weekend before dropping back to the 50s and 60s by Monday and Tuesday. Overnight lows will range from the 30s to the 50s throughout the forecast period.
