**AHMEDABAD, INDIA (May 1, 2025)** – The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) announced a one-month extension to its advance tax rebate scheme, pushing the deadline to May 31st. The scheme, offering rebates of up to 15% on early tax payments, has already seen significant success.
By April 28th, 395,495 taxpayers had participated, contributing Rs 482.90 crore to the AMC’s coffers. The West Zone led the participation, with Rs 123.66 crore collected from 103,516 taxpayers, followed closely by the North-West Zone. The North Zone showed the lowest participation.
This year’s response, while strong, lags behind last year’s figures. In 2024, the scheme attracted 582,864 taxpayers and generated Rs 776.84 crore, with Rs 80.75 crore distributed in rebates.
The AMC is offering additional incentives this year. Online payments receive an extra 1% rebate, and taxpayers with a three-year history of advance payments qualify for an additional 2%, maximizing the rebate at 15%. The extension aims to encourage further participation and improve tax compliance.
