Tue Apr 29 16:33:05 UTC 2025: ## Over 4,000 Chennai Police Officers to Receive Housing Allotment
**Chennai, April 29, 2025** – Over 4,000 Chennai police personnel will soon receive much-needed housing, thanks to an initiative by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. Following a request from Greater Chennai Police Commissioner A. Arun, the state government has approved the allocation of vacant Tamil Nadu Housing Board (TNHB) flats to address the significant housing shortage among police officers.
Commissioner Arun’s request stemmed from a surge in petitions – over 3,461 – submitted by police personnel, including senior officers, at weekly grievance redressal camps. The petition highlighted a critical lack of available police quarters within the city.
The allotted flats are located across various Chennai neighbourhoods, including Ambattur, Ayapakkam, Sholinganallur, Shenoy Nagar, M.K.B. Nagar, and Nolambur. The government will also adjust house rent allowances accordingly. Similar housing allotments are planned for police personnel in Tambaram, Avadi, and Coimbatore. The initiative is expected to significantly improve the living conditions for a large segment of the Chennai Police force.
