Wed Apr 30 06:22:27 UTC 2025: ## Indian Court Issues Non-Bailable Warrant for Mehul Choksi in New Fraud Case

**Mumbai, India –** A Mumbai court has issued a non-bailable warrant for Mehul Choksi, a prime accused in the multi-billion rupee Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud, in a separate case involving a ₹55 crore loan fraud. The warrant was issued by Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate R.B. Thakur and the case has been adjourned until June 2nd.

Choksi, currently fighting extradition in Belgium, is accused of defrauding a consortium of banks led by Canara Bank. The CBI alleges that his company, Bezel Jewellery, received ₹55 crore in working capital loans intended for jewellery manufacturing but failed to repay the debt. Choksi’s nephew, Nirav Modi, is also a key figure in the PNB fraud and remains imprisoned in London. The latest warrant adds to Choksi’s mounting legal troubles.
