Wed Apr 30 16:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Maxwell’s IPL Season Likely Over After Finger Fracture

**Chennai, India –** Punjab Kings all-rounder Glenn Maxwell’s IPL 2025 season is almost certainly over after suffering a fractured finger, according to team captain Shreyas Iyer and teammate Marcus Stoinis.

The injury was confirmed by Iyer during the toss ahead of Monday’s match against Chennai Super Kings. While Iyer stated that the team hasn’t yet decided on a replacement, his comments strongly suggest Maxwell will not be returning to the tournament. “It’s very unfortunate that he’s got a fractured finger,” Iyer said. “We haven’t decided about replacements yet, but we are pretty strong.”

Stoinis provided further details, revealing that Maxwell sustained the fracture before the previous game against Kolkata Knight Riders, despite batting in that match. “Unfortunately, Maxi’s broken his finger,” Stoinis told Jiostar. “He broke it just before the last game at training… He had scans and yeah, the results weren’t great. So unfortunately for Maxi, I think it’s likely he’s out for the tournament.”

Maxwell’s season has been a disappointing one, with only 48 runs in seven matches for Punjab Kings. This contrasts sharply with his previous successful IPL stints, notably his 552 runs for Punjab Kings in 2014. The injury comes as Punjab Kings fight for a playoff spot, currently sitting just outside the top four with five wins from nine games. Suryansh Shedge replaced Maxwell in the playing XI for the match against CSK.
