**Bengaluru, April 30, 2025** – A ₹45 lakh endowment fund has been established in Karnataka to honor the legacy of late Chief Minister S.M. Krishna. The fund, comprised of contributions from Agriculture Minister N. Cheluvarayaswamy, several legislators, and admirers of the late leader, will provide eight annual awards recognizing excellence in various fields.

Minister Cheluvarayaswamy contributed ₹10 lakh, with funds designated for awards to a progressive farmer and an outstanding social worker. Further contributions include ₹10 lakh from Maddur MLA K.M. Uday for University of Mysore gold medalists, ₹5 lakh from Malavalli MLA P.M. Narendra Swamy for a Law University gold medalist, and ₹5 lakh from A.B. Ramesh Bandisidde Gowda for a top Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath art student. Mandya MLA Ravikumar Ganiga and actor Venkataramana Gowda (“Star” Chandru) each donated ₹5 lakh for agricultural and literary awards respectively. Finally, MLC Dinesh Guli Gowda contributed ₹5 lakh for a Ramakrishna Ashram student.

The interest generated from the corpus will be used to fund these annual awards across the fields of agriculture, literature, law, and the arts. The awards aim to recognize and incentivize exceptional achievement in these crucial sectors.
