**NEW YORK, NY** – The National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) announced the finalists for the prestigious Ted Lindsay Award on Wednesday. The award, voted on by the players themselves, recognizes the NHL’s most outstanding player. This year’s finalists are Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov, Colorado Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon, and Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar.

Kucherov, a three-time finalist and past winner (2018-19), led the league in scoring for the second consecutive season with 121 points (37 goals, 84 assists). His impressive performance included leading the league in power-play points and a remarkable 65-game point streak.

MacKinnon, a four-time finalist and last year’s winner, finished second in league scoring with 116 points (32 goals, 84 assists). He also led the league in shots on goal and boasts an impressive scoring streak of 26 games at home.

Makar, a first-time finalist, makes history as the only defenseman to reach 30 goals and 60 assists in a season since 2008-09. His 92 points led all NHL defensemen. He could become only the second defenseman to win the award.

The winner of the Ted Lindsay Award will be announced at a later date. The NHL will continue to announce finalists for other awards in the coming weeks, with the Hart Trophy (MVP) finalists to be revealed on Thursday.
