**Varanasi, April 30:** Gold prices witnessed a significant jump in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, on Akshaya Tritiya, a major Hindu festival. The opening of the bullion market on Wednesday saw a ₹460 increase in the price of 24-carat gold, reaching ₹98,130 per 10 grams. This is a sharp rise from Tuesday’s price of ₹97,670.

Similarly, 22-carat gold saw a ₹400 increase, settling at ₹89,950 per 10 grams, compared to ₹89,550 the previous day. 18-carat gold also experienced a price hike of ₹350, closing at ₹73,610 per 10 grams.

Silver prices, however, remained unchanged at ₹100,500 per kilogram.

Santosh Kumar Agrawal, president of the Varanasi Sarrafa Association, attributed the price fluctuation to ongoing market volatility but expressed optimism about a potential price correction in the near future. He urged buyers to verify the purity of gold, checking for the hallmark and carat, with 24-carat being the purest form. Daily price changes are influenced by taxes and excise duties.
