HYDERABAD, April 29, 2025 – The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) today accused Telangana Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy of exploiting a National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) report for political purposes. BRS leader and former irrigation minister T. Harish Rao held a press conference to counter Reddy’s claims that the report highlighted flaws in the Kaleshwaram project.

Rao criticized Reddy for repeatedly citing the report, alleging that the minister was using it to unfairly blame the previous government. He pointed out the NDSA’s failure to produce reports on other projects, including the Polavaram project, and highlighted Reddy’s past opposition to the NDSA’s formation, calling it an unconstitutional encroachment on states’ rights.

Rao further questioned the timing of the report’s release, suggesting it was strategically timed to coincide with various elections and party anniversaries. He also challenged Reddy’s narrative by raising questions about the delayed construction of the Tummidihatti Barrage and the escalating costs of the Polavaram project. The BRS accused Reddy of spreading misinformation regarding barrage capacities and the status of other irrigation projects. The party demanded clarification on these issues.
