Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh (April 30, 2025) – A tragic accident at Simhachalam today claimed the lives of seven people, including three women and four men. The deceased have been identified as Swami Naidu (32), Edla Venkat Rao (48), Manikanta Eshwara Rao (28), Pilla Mahesh (30), Mahalakshmi (65), Venkatratnam (45), and Shailaja (29). All victims were residents of Visakhapatnam and East Godavari districts. The Andhra Pradesh government has announced ex-gratia payments of ₹25 lakh to the families of the deceased and ₹3 lakh to the injured. A three-member committee has been formed to investigate the incident. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep sorrow and held a teleconference with ministers and senior officials to review the situation and aid to the injured. The government also plans to offer outsourcing jobs in the endowments department to bereaved family members.
Meanwhile, tensions remain high along the India-Pakistan border, with Pakistan initiating unprovoked firing near the International Border in the Pargwal sector. The Indian Army is retaliating.
