**YADGIR, INDIA (April 30, 2025)** – The 892nd birth anniversary of 12th-century social reformer Basaveshwar was commemorated in Yadgir today. MLA Channareddy Patil Tunnur, inaugurating the celebrations, lauded Basaveshwar’s fight against social inequality and his efforts to promote equality through the ‘Anubhava Mantap,’ a gathering of saints from diverse castes. Tunnur highlighted Basaveshwar’s multifaceted role as a philosopher, social reformer, and administrator, praising his integrity even while serving under King Bijjala. The MLA emphasized Basaveshwar’s use of *vachanas* (short poetic expressions) to combat social ills and superstitions. The event included speeches by CMC Chairperson Lalita Anapur and Deputy Commissioner B. Susheela, as well as a special lecture on Basaveshwar delivered by Subhashchandra Koulagi.
