Wed Apr 30 17:49:08 UTC 2025: ## Bengaluru Builder Arrested After Cheating 34 Families Out of Lakhs of Rupees

**Bengaluru, April 30, 2025** – A city-based builder, A.K. Raghu, has been arrested following a police complaint filed by 34 families alleging fraud and cheating. The victims, who leased flats from Raghu in a Kodigehalli residential complex, were evicted in January 2024 after it was discovered Raghu had illegally sold the same properties to multiple buyers.

One victim reported leasing a flat for ₹26 lakh in November 2023. After several months of occupancy, a group claiming ownership forced the residents to vacate. It was subsequently revealed that Raghu had sold the flats, and some buyers had secured bank loans on the properties. Banks began issuing eviction notices due to missed payments.

The victims initially faced difficulties filing a police complaint, with officers initially dismissing the case as a civil dispute. Following a protest outside the apartment complex on Wednesday, where some families were forcibly evicted, police registered a cheating case against Raghu. The victims are now calling for authorities to intervene and ensure their safety and financial recovery. The investigation is ongoing.
