Wed Apr 30 06:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Akshaya Tritiya 2025: Record Gold Sales Predicted Despite High Prices

**NEW DELHI** – Akshaya Tritiya, the auspicious Hindu festival, falls on April 30th, 2025 (Wednesday), and is expected to generate a massive ₹16,000 crore (approximately $1.9 billion USD) in business, according to the All India Jewellers and Goldsmith Federation (AIJGF). This prediction comes despite a significant increase in gold prices, which have reached ₹1 lakh (approximately $1,200 USD) per 10 grams, up from ₹73,500 last year. Silver prices have also risen to ₹1,00,000 per kilogram.

The most auspicious time for purchasing gold is between 5:41 AM and 12:18 PM (IST) in New Delhi. The AIJGF anticipates sales of approximately 12 tonnes of gold (valued at ₹12,000 crore) and 400 tonnes of silver (valued at ₹4,000 crore). The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) notes that the jewelry market anticipates a mixed trend due to the elevated prices.

Akshaya Tritiya, also known as Akha Teej, is considered a highly auspicious day for new beginnings and investments, with many believing that gold purchased on this day will bring prosperity. The term “Akshaya” means “never diminishing,” reflecting the belief that good deeds performed on this day yield lasting benefits. This year’s observance is particularly auspicious as it coincides with a Rohini Nakshatra day and a Wednesday.

While the prediction points to significant business, the impact of the higher gold and silver prices on consumer purchasing remains to be seen. Investors are advised to consult with financial experts before making any investment decisions.
