Wed Apr 30 11:37:32 UTC 2025: ## Hundreds of Pakistanis Leave India Following Terror Attack
**New Delhi, April 30, 2025** – Over 786 Pakistani nationals, including 55 diplomats and support staff, have left India in the past six days following a government order issued after the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir. The April 22nd attack, which killed 26 people, prompted India to revoke the visas of numerous Pakistani citizens, setting deadlines for their departure based on visa type.
The exodus primarily occurred through the Attari-Wagah border crossing, with the largest number departing on April 27th (237 individuals). Three Pakistani defence advisors were also declared persona non grata and expelled. India reciprocated by withdrawing its own defence attaché from Islamabad.
While the government set deadlines between April 26th and 29th, officials acknowledge that some Pakistanis may have left via airports. Conversely, 1,465 Indians returned from Pakistan during the same period. A significant number of Pakistanis with long-term visas also entered India during this time.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah contacted Chief Ministers across India to ensure compliance with the expulsion order, which followed a sharp deterioration in India-Pakistan relations. While some Pakistani citizens with diplomatic or official visas were exempted, the government has not indicated any extension to the departure deadlines.
