Wed Apr 30 02:49:04 UTC 2025: **Bengaluru Actor-Director Holds Retrospective of Socially Conscious Films**

BENGALURU, India (April 30, 2025) – Acclaimed Kannada actor and director K. Suchendra Prasad is hosting a four-day retrospective of his work, titled “Samagama,” starting May 1st in Bengaluru. The event, a collaboration between Prasad’s Voicing Silence film production company and the Suchitra Film Society, will showcase six of his films, including his latest, yet-to-be-released, *Padma Gandhi*. The festival will also feature discussions and activities focusing on theatre, cinema, Sanskrit, and child rights – themes central to Prasad’s three-decade career.

Prasad, who began his career in theatre in the early 1990s and later transitioned to film, is known for balancing work in both commercial and parallel cinema. While achieving success in mainstream films alongside stars like Yash and Darshan, he has consistently pursued projects addressing social issues like child marriage and girl child education, drawing on his experiences as a media consultant with UNICEF and the UNDP.

Although his films haven’t always achieved box-office success, Prasad emphasizes his commitment to using cinema as a platform for social commentary. His Sanskrit-language film, *Ekachakram*, has garnered attention on the festival circuit. Prasad states that his work in commercial cinema allows him to fund his passion projects, explaining that he will continue to pursue this dual approach.

“Samagama” will take place at the Suchitra Film Society from May 1st to May 4th. The event will also be available virtually due to high demand. For in-person attendance or virtual access, contact information is provided in the original article.
