**Vijayawada, April 29, 2025** – The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has vehemently denounced the liquor scam allegations leveled against its previous government as a politically motivated fabrication. M. Manohar Reddy, president of the party’s legal cell, described the accusations as a “fantastical story” orchestrated by the NDA government.

Reddy criticized the investigation’s lack of transparency and adherence to standard procedures. He highlighted that the investigation stemmed from letters from an unknown individual with no proven link to the liquor trade, and that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) operated without a designated police station or CCTV surveillance. He further alleged that the SIT targeted former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and other senior YSRCP leaders, employing coercion to obtain false confessions.

Reddy contrasted the YSRCP’s liquor policy, which he claimed reduced outlets, consumption, and ended private syndicates, with the current government’s alleged reversal of these reforms, leading to a surge in illegal liquor sales. He also pointed to alleged massive losses to the state exchequer during the tenure of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, citing CAG audit reports. The YSRCP maintains that the current allegations are a politically driven attempt to discredit the party.
