**COIMBATORE, INDIA (April 29, 2025)** – A man convicted of robbery, D. Senthil Kumar (39), escaped from the First Additional Subordinate Court in Coimbatore on Monday evening, just before the judge announced his sentence. Kumar had been found guilty in a 2006 case involving the assault and robbery of Mahesh Maruthaiah. The judge sentenced Kumar to five years of rigorous imprisonment and issued a non-bailable warrant for his arrest. A special police team has been formed to apprehend the escaped convict. Kumar was one of three individuals involved in the crime; one co-accused died during the trial, and another remains at large.
