**Ramanathapuram, April 29, 2025** – A local holiday has been declared in the Paramakudi block of Ramanathapuram district on May 12th, Monday, to mark the annual Chithirai festival at the Sri Sundaraja Perumal Temple. The festival, which features the highlight of Lord Kallazhagar’s entry into the Vaigai river, will begin on the evening of May 11th and continue into the morning of May 12th. To compensate for the holiday, all government offices will remain open on May 24th, a Saturday, according to a press statement from Ramanathapuram Collector Simranjeet Singh Kahlon.
