Tue Apr 29 03:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Cape Canaveral Hosts Historic Launch Doubleheader

**Cape Canaveral, FL** – In a historic event, Florida’s Space Coast witnessed a back-to-back launch of two major rockets on Monday, April 28th. A United Launch Alliance (ULA) Atlas V rocket, carrying 27 Project Kuiper broadband satellites for Amazon, successfully lifted off at 7:01 PM EDT from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. This was followed by a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launch at 10:34 PM EDT from Kennedy Space Center’s Launch Complex 39A, deploying 23 Starlink satellites.

The Atlas V launch, featuring five solid rocket boosters, marked a significant milestone for Amazon’s Project Kuiper, deploying its first batch of operational satellites to provide broadband internet access to underserved communities globally. ULA officials celebrated the successful deployment, highlighting the strong partnership with Amazon and emphasizing their plans for future launches using both Atlas V and Vulcan rockets.

The subsequent SpaceX Falcon 9 launch, the 252nd dedicated Starlink mission of 2025, was equally successful. The Falcon 9’s first-stage booster successfully landed on the drone ship “A Shortfall of Gravitas” in the Atlantic Ocean, marking the booster’s maiden voyage. The launch, which illuminated the night sky, faced a 75% chance of favorable weather conditions, with cumulus and anvil clouds posing minor threats.

Brevard County Emergency Management activated their launch operations support teams for both launches, ensuring public safety. The launches mark the 35th and 36th orbital launches of 2025 from the Cape Canaveral area. The event showcased the dynamic space industry activity currently underway on Florida’s Space Coast.
