Tue Apr 29 04:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Gwyneth Paltrow Ditches Strict Paleo Diet, Embraces Carbs and Cheese
**Los Angeles, CA** – Gwyneth Paltrow, actress and founder of the lifestyle brand Goop, has announced she’s abandoning her years-long adherence to the strict Paleo diet. Speaking on her podcast, “The Goop Podcast,” Paltrow cited concerns about long-term inflammation as the reason for shifting away from the restrictive eating plan.
Paltrow, who previously discussed her genetic predisposition to Alzheimer’s disease, had adopted the Paleo diet to manage potential brain inflammation. However, she admitted to feeling “a little sick of it” and is now reintroducing carbohydrates and dairy products like sourdough bread, cheese, and pasta into her diet.
While acknowledging the Paleo diet’s benefits as a “good template” for consuming whole and fresh foods, Paltrow’s decision has been welcomed by nutrition experts. Priya Tew, a specialist dietitian and spokesperson for the British Dietetic Association, praised Paltrow’s move towards a more balanced diet, emphasizing the importance of dietary diversity and the inclusion of carbohydrates for overall health. Tew highlighted the vital role of carbohydrates in providing fiber, B vitamins, energy, and gut health.
Paltrow’s dietary journey has included other restrictive approaches, such as macrobiotics, adopted in an attempt to support her father’s health. However, Tew cautioned against unsubstantiated claims surrounding the curative powers of both macrobiotic and Paleo diets. The Paleo diet, mimicking the diets of Paleolithic-era humans, excludes dairy, sugar, grains, and legumes, while macrobiotics focuses on avoiding toxins and often involves a vegan approach with stringent rules.
This dietary shift comes as Goop, Paltrow’s company, continues to face scrutiny for past unsubstantiated health claims. The company previously paid $145,000 in penalties in California for misleading claims related to certain products.
