Mon Apr 28 16:17:44 UTC 2025: **Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Accuses BJP of Anti-Poor Policies, Driving Up Prices**
Belagavi, Karnataka – April 28, 2025 – Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah launched a scathing attack on the BJP on Monday, accusing the party of prioritizing corporate profits over the welfare of the poor and manipulating prices of essential commodities. Speaking at a “Save Constitution, Save Nation” rally in Belagavi, Siddaramaiah blamed the BJP’s policies for the rising cost of fuel, food, and other goods, asserting that the party’s claims to the contrary are misleading.
Siddaramaiah highlighted the discrepancy between falling international crude oil prices and the sustained high prices of petrol, diesel, and domestic gas in India, questioning the BJP’s economic management. He challenged the BJP’s moral authority to criticize price hikes, stating that the party’s policies over the past 11 years have directly contributed to the problem. He accused the BJP of using divisive tactics based on caste and religion to gain political advantage and of achieving power through “dirty political games.”
The Chief Minister further criticized the BJP’s tax policies, accusing the party of reducing corporate taxes while increasing those on the poor and middle class. He defended recent price increases in Karnataka, arguing that they remain lower than in neighboring states and are necessary to support farmers.
Siddaramaiah characterized the BJP as “anti-poor, anti-farmer, anti-Muslim, anti-Dalit, and anti-women,” and reiterated his confidence that the Congress party will regain power in the next election. He also stated that attempts by BJP activists to disrupt the rally would not deter the Congress from highlighting what he described as the BJP’s injustices.
