**Chennai, India (April 29, 2025)** – The Chennai Central Crime Branch (CCB) announced a significant crackdown on white-collar crime, reporting the successful investigation and prosecution of numerous cases over the past 16 months. From January 2024 to April 2025, the CCB registered 1,005 cases, primarily involving white-collar offenses. A statement released today revealed that investigations into 948 pending cases were completed, leading to the arrest of 747 accused, including 11 cybercriminals from outside the state.
In an effort to deter repeat offenders, 88 individuals were detained under the Goondas Act, a preventative detention law. The CCB also reported 121 convictions resulting from concluded trials, with the accused receiving punishments from the respective courts. Furthermore, authorities successfully executed 707 non-bailable warrants against those who had evaded arrest. The CCB operates under the supervision of Additional Commissioner of Police A. Radhika and four Deputy Commissioners.
