Mon Apr 28 14:50:00 UTC 2025: ## India-Pakistan Tensions Escalate After Pahalgam Attack

Tensions between India and Pakistan have dramatically escalated following a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in numerous casualties. The attack, claimed initially then denied by a Lashkar-e-Taiba offshoot, has triggered a series of military responses and heightened rhetoric from both sides.

India has conducted live missile tests, including simulated precision strikes using Rafale fighter jets, and demonstrated its naval capabilities with missile firings in the Arabian Sea. The Indian military has also reportedly conducted strikes targeting terrorist hideouts. Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the attack, vowing the “harshest punishment” for the perpetrators.

Pakistan, meanwhile, has conducted its own live-fire military drills and a Pakistani MP issued a nuclear threat against India. However, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif expressed a desire to avoid war, stating that Lashkar-e-Taiba is largely inactive within Pakistan. Despite this, clashes have occurred along the Line of Control (LoC).

Iran has offered to mediate the conflict, while the international community watches with concern. Former US President Donald Trump offered a prediction on the situation, expressing belief that the nations will ultimately resolve their differences. The situation remains volatile, with ongoing military posturing and strong verbal exchanges continuing to fuel the crisis.
